Forces a change in our 108-year old mission

The Goodfellow Fund, like many other organizations have had to face the many impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Goodfellow Fund staff and board members have discussed every possible scenario and the conclusion is that our mission will have to change this year.

We realized that under the current community safety guidelines we could not provide the required safety and protection for our applicants and volunteers such as a clean and sanitized facility and equipment, testing protocols, personal protection equipment, a safe way to conduct face-to-face interviews, and the proper handling and sanitation of the gift cards. But we still want to help. The community more than ever needs The Goodfellow Fund’s presence.

For that reason, the Goodfellow Fund will change the mission for 2020 and provide

Holiday Food for the families of school children in Tarrant County, working

in partnership with Tarrant Area Food Bank and Albertson’s/Tom Thumb.

Throughout Tarrant County, residents who have never had to rely on food assistance before are turning to the Tarrant Area Food Bank for aid. Food banks across the state are bracing for both another spike in food insecurity and the fact that the effects of the pandemic are likely to last into 2021. Family meals are an important part of a holiday gathering.

THEY ARE WHERE MEMORIES ARE MADE!

Applicants will be scheduled for a pickup location closest to their home. Meals will be placed in their vehicle trunk or hatch, or delivered through the window, with minimal to no personal contact. Accepted applicants will receive a letter directing them to an Arlington or Fort Worth pickup location on a specific day. You must bring that letter with you, and place it on the dashboard of your car. Also have the trunk and back seat of your car cleared. The boxes and sacks of food take up a lot of room!!
